Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo has urged the police to work hand in hand with the country’s graft-busting body, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the quest to end corruption.
He said this during this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day commemorations at Kasungu Stadium.
Mvalo said a delay in handling corruption cases removes trust and confidence of citizens in law enforcement agencies and judicial system.
Mvalo added that it is the duty of each and every Malawian to ensure that the country is corruption free by practicing integrity and portray principals of transparency and accountability.
“To increase integrity, corruption cases must be investigated, handled and concluded in time without favor,” he said
Mvalo also urged members of parliament to avoid making laws and passing budgets that are aimed at benefiting themselves and not the public.
“As leaders, let us demonstrate our commitment to this effort of fighting against corruption by bringing integrity to governance to gain citizens trust,” he said
The day was being observed under the theme” Fight Corruption, Protect Malawi’s Future in which President Lazarus Chakwera was the guest of honor and the embattled ACB director General Martha Chizuma was in attendance.
