Two people have been arrested in Lilongwe for allegedly selling fake fertilizer.
Lilongwe police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu confirmed the arrests.
According to reports, the arrests followed a complaint filed by a Dedza farmer who bout at least 16 bags weighing 50 kilograms of the fake fertilizer.
The farmer upon realizing that what he bought is not actually fertilizer, he reported the matter to Lilongwe police.
Upon investigations, the police managed to recover 40 bags filled with sandy soil at the suspects’ house.
The suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges levelled against them.
