Man arrested for fraudulently obtaining 46 bags of AIP fertilizer

Police in Zomba are keeping in custody 44-year-old Clement Kamuyenda for allegedly obtaining 46 bags of AIP fertilizer unlawfully.

Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano said, the suspect, who works as a sales clerk for Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi at Chimwalira Depot, was keeping 40 bags of Urea and 6 bags of NPK fertilizer in the house of his landlady.

Police followed a tip from well wishers to arrest the suspect before seizing all the 46 bags of fertilizer.

“Kamuyenda has since been charged for being found in possession of goods suspected to have been obtained unlawfully and will appear before court of law soon,” Sipiliano said.
