Man fined K48,000 for stealing mattress and kitchen utensils in Ndirande.

Third Grade Magistrate Court in Blantyre has convicted a man and charged him to pay K48, 000 as a fine for stealing mattress and kitchen utensils in Ndirande.

Ndirande Police Station Prosecutor Sergeant Kiswell Chiwande has identified the convict Nathan Chiphiko aged 30.

Chiwande told the court that during the month of November, 2022 Chiphiko stole mattress, kitchen utensils and other assorted items worthy K48, 000 belonging to Mercy Chirwa.

The convict disappeared to unknown destinations after committing the offense but he was later arrested by the Police on March 19, 2023 after being tipped off by well-wishers.

Appearing in court, Chiphiko pleaded guilty to the offense leveled against him which forced the court to convict and fine him upon his own plea of guilty.

Passing judgement, Third Grade Magistrate Maria Ndagonera Gomani convicted and fined Nathan Chiphiko to K48, 000 or in default serve two months’ imprisonment with hard labor.
