Two Arrested for Creating Fake Camp and Stealing Relief Items in Thyolo

Police in Bvumbwe, Thyolo have arrested two individuals on suspicion of stealing relief supplies meant for Cyclone Freddy survivors.

The stolen items included 20 bags of maize and 100 packs of Likuni phala. Limbe Police spokesperson, Patrick Mussa, has identified the suspects as Watson Gumbala, 61, who is the chairperson of the Area Development Committee for Sub-Traditional Maggie, and Graves Luhanga, 48.

According to Mussa, the Thyolo district council officials reported that the suspects created a fake camp at Nyambalo primary school and requested relief items, which they then shared and sold at Bvumbwe trading centre.

Thyolo District Commissioner, Rosemary Nawasha, has not yet commented on the matter.
