Govt warns contractors against shoddy works

Government has fired warning shots on contractors doing shoddy construction works in the country.

This comes as members of parliament asked authorities on the need to come up with a deliberate policy that would help to construct better roads which have developed massive potholes.

Minister of transport and public works Jacob Hara has said contractors doing poor jobs will be risking being debated.

Meanwhile Hara has revealed plans that government will rehabilitate M1 and M5 roads.

Hara added that paperwork is in the process on procurement so that the country can have standard roads with lifespan of even up to 30 years.

Commenting on the matter Ben Phiri member of parliament for Thyolo Central said M1 road is a commercial root and it demands to be fast tracked on its rehabilitation process as potholes are death trap to user.

Concurring with Phiri is Victor Musowa legislator for Mulanje Bale who added by demanding ministerial statement to answer all the concerns raised by Members of parliament.
