Police in Balaka is keeping in custody a Mozambican national, Rafiki Matola aged 30, and 7 others and recovered 2 motorcycles in an intelligence-driven operation conducted during the night of Wednesday.
According to Balaka Police Public Relations Officer, Gladson M’bumpha said the Mozambican National has since been charged with the offense of robbery with violence.
The intelligence driven operation was conducted in the villages of Idi, Matsautso, Zalengela, Kabaule and Kaumphawi in the areas of Traditional Authorities Nsamala and Sawali in Balaka District.
During the operation, police managed to recover two motorcycles and two other motorcycles are yet to be recovered.
All the suspects, who have been on Balaka Police Station’s ‘wanted’ list will appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against them.
