Thyolo district council says it will soon engage chief and political leaders towards opening of K400 million new Goliati market, four months after vendors complained that the market is incomplete.
Hudson Kaphanga, Thyolo district commissioner says most of the things which the people complained of, have been resolved such as, a wire fence to secure their commodities.
“So far, we want to assure people that it’s for their own benefit to occupy the new market on safety measures as the place they are operating is a roundabout and on the road which is prone to accidents,” Kaphanga said.
The market committee chairman, Richard Makota insists that the opening of the market under the ‘More Income and Employment in Rural Areas’ (MIERA) project depends on completion of 31 shops, brick fence, drainage system and drilling of a borehole.
