Bon Kalindo arrested over Mangochi, Zomba fracas

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that rights activist and politician Bon Kalindo has been arrested by police.

Kalindo has been arrested in relation to the recent demonstrations in Zomba and Mangochi where protesters engaged in running battles with the law enforcers, damaging government vehicles in the process.

National police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed the development in an interview with the press, saying Kalindo was arrested yesterday in Lilongwe and will be taken to the Eastern Region police headquarters in Zomba later today.

He said Kalindo will be answering the offence of proposing violence.
