Colorado’s supreme court declared on Tuesday that Donald Trump is ineligible to be president of the United States due to his involvement in the January 2021 assault on the Capitol, causing a political tremor that might upset the results of next year’s election.
Republicans of all stripes swiftly condemned the startling court ruling, which Trump’s team indicated it would appeal.
It appeared that this would fuel the former reality TV star’s allegation of political persecution.
