Reports from Nkhatabay indicate that Malawi’s vessel on the lake, Illala, is sinking. According to the reports which FaceofMalawi is yet to independently verify, Illala developed a fault at around Usisya in Nkhatabay.
Meanwhile, Usisya has been said to be the deepest part of Lake Malawi and difficult to access.
Having lived over four decades plying and sailing on the waters of Lake Malawi, Illala had been hit lately with technical faults that made people worry over the safety of traveling through it.
