Walk It Like You Talk It – MCTU Asks Govt To Follow Revised Increment Of Minimum Wage

The Malawi Congress of Trade Union (MCTU) has government to walk its talk on carrying out an inspection exercise aimed at monitoring how employers are adhering to the recently revised minimum wage.

The call comes weeks after the authorities effected a minimum wage increase from 50 thousand kwacha to 90 thousand kwacha.

However, President for MCTU Charles Kumchenga has condemned on the development saying weeks after the wage increment that was effected from February 1st, 2024, MCTU noted some laxity by some employers in fulfilling the directive.

Kumchenga has therefore called on the authorities to address the situation by intensifying inspections in working places in order to have the revised minimum wage enforced
