Ronald Kaira Named New Chairperson of Chitipa District Council

Chitipa District Council has a new chairperson, Ronald Kaira, who is the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) councillor for Wenya ward. He replaces Toweracharo Mnyenyembe, the Alliance For Democracy (AFORD) councillor for Mahowe ward, and was elected unopposed. Additionally, Yamba ward councillor Wedson Simkonde has been elected as vice chairperson, defeating Nthalire ward councillor Thomson Kaponda by 9 votes to 2. In his acceptance speech, Kaira promised to ensure that developmental projects reach all parts of the district. The council is hopeful for progress under the new leadership.
