CATHOLICS BEGINS LENT PERIOD WITH ‘ASH WEDNESDAY’

 Malawi Catholics on Wednesday joined the rest of the faithfuls   around the  World when they marked “Ash Wednesday”, to mark the beginning of the solemn season of Lent.

The ‘Ash Wednesday’ was carried out in all Roman catholic churches across the country.

They had the sign of the cross marked on their foreheads with ash to symbolize, mourning, repentance and their desire to share the sufferings of Christ.

Catholics faiths during this period dedicate their time to prayers and fasting and giving things to the needy as well as abstaining from taking meat.

The Lent period last for forty days.
