Police in Lilongwe fired tear gas to disperse protesting shopkeepers demanding higher wages.
One protester stated that they decided to submit their complaints to the council, urging Indian shop owners to increase their salaries, which some claim are as low as K20,000 per person.
However, as the protesters approached Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH), police intervened with tear gas.
Currently, the trading center in Lilongwe city remains closed.
