
Two Arrested for Impersonating Triphonia Mpinganjira on Facebook

Police at Lingadzi in Lilongwe have arrested two 24-year-old men for allegedly defrauding people on Facebook by impersonating businesswoman Triphonia Mpinganjira.
According to Lingadzi Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Constable Maria Kumwenda, the suspects have been identified as Amos Charles and Joel Salanda.
The two allegedly created a fake Facebook account using Mpinganjira’s name and tricked people into sending them money, claiming it was for charity work.
Following reports of the scam, Lingadzi Police launched an investigation, leading to Amos’ arrest in Monkey Bay. He was found using an Airtel Money account registered under the name Janet Tembo. His accomplice, Joel, was later arrested in Mzuzu.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to fraud.
