Alcohol Kills 2 Men In Blantyre

Two men in Blantyre have lost their lives after consuming excessive alcohol on empty stomachs, police have confirmed.

Soche Police Station spokesperson Aaron Chilala identified the deceased as Vincent Chotokoma (21) and Steven Lizi (48).

According to Chilala, the two died on Monday,17 March , 2025, in separate incidents. Chotokoma, a shoe vendor at Limbe Market, was seen drinking the day before and was later found dead in his house, where he lived alone.

On the other hand, Lizi had a dispute with his relatives before heading to a drinking spot, where he consumed excessive alcohol. He was later found lifeless along the road leading to his home.

A postmortem examination revealed that both men died due to alcohol consumption on empty stomachs.

Chotokoma hailed from Njomwe Village, T/A Nsomba in Blantyre, while Lizi was from Chisinga Village, T/A Chulu in Kasungu District.
