The Malawi Police Service is under fire after the Parliamentary Committee on Security summoned Inspector General Merlyne Yolamu to explain why law enforcement is failing to arrest individuals carrying clubs and intimidating citizens.
Committee Chairperson Salim Bagus condemned the police for their inaction, stating that these armed groups have become so bold that they are even mocking Members of Parliament without facing consequences.
Meanwhile, CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa has warned those involved in the intimidation, reminding them that the people backing them will not remain in power forever.
