Police in Chiradzulu are searching for unknown individuals who tampered with the grave of an 11-year-old child at Chilumpha Village.

Chiradzulu Police spokesperson Sub Inspector Cosmas Kagulo, has confirmed the development as said the child passed away on April 24 and was buried the following day, April 25.

However, villagers were shocked yesterday when they discovered that the grave had been disturbed and immediately informed the family, who in turn reported the matter to police.

Today, police officers accompanied by health officials visited the grave and confirmed that although the burial site showed signs of being dug up, the coffin and the child’s body were still intact.

Kagulo said investigations are underway, and police are hunting for the individuals responsible for the attempted exhumation.
