The Transporters Association of Malawi (TAM) has partnered Salima Sugar company to help address ongoing sugar shortage which is affecting many parts of the country. This has been announced through the press statement which was released by TAM on 27 May 2025.

To help in fixing the problem, TAM is now transporting sugar from the Salima sugar factory to different towns and cities across Malawi. So far, over 20 trucks, carrying 30 tons of sugar each, have been sent in different districts, with more to be added until the situation improves.

In the statement, TAM is calling on its members who own trucks to come forward and submit their vehicle details for loading and support this work.

TAM also assured the public that it is committed to work hard and make sure that sugar is delivered quickly and fairly across the country to make it available and affordable to everyone.
