The Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) has suspended four pharmacy personnel for breaching pharmacy laws, regulations, and the professional code of conduct.
PMRA Director General Mphatso Kawaye identified the suspended individuals as Saile Kamanga, Wiseman Thomas Nkhata, Rafik Mustaphar, and Pravin Shimpi.
According to Kawaye, the suspensions are due to offenses including dispensing incorrect medication, involvement in the importation of unregistered medicines, receiving pharmaceuticals from unregistered distributors, and theft of medical supplies.
Health rights activist Maziko Matemba has welcomed the move, stating that strict regulation is essential to ensure medicines are properly managed and patients’ lives are protected.
