Information reaching this publication indicates that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Rumphi North Member of Parliament and former Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jappie Mhango, over allegations related to the questionable sale of government houses.
Mhango, who also serves as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the North, confirmed the development, stating that he is currently being held at the ACB offices in Mzuzu.
“They are saying this happened in 2017, if not 2018,” Mhango said.
According to ACB officials, Mhango is suspected of influencing the sale of public houses at undervalued prices during his time in office. Investigations are ongoing.
