A 41-year-old man, Emmanuel Siamutema, was found dead early Saturday morning, May 31, 2025, behind an incomplete building in Simwizi Village, under Chief Mukuni’s jurisdiction in Kazungula District.

According to Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka, the body was discovered around 05:30 hours. Preliminary findings suggest the incident may be a case of self-harm, though investigations are ongoing.

Mr. Siamutema was reportedly battling emotional distress, allegedly caused by significant debts owed to several individuals. Authorities also noted he had recently been avoiding court proceedings over a land dispute.

On May 30, the deceased is said to have left his home and spent the night at a friend’s residence, expressing fear of being served with court summons. He told the friend he intended to check on his family the next day — but was later found dead near the unfinished building.

Police have since launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death.
