Former Minister of Transport and Deputy Leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the northern region, Jappie Mhango, is expected to appear in court at 2:00 PM today in Mzuzu on charges of corruption.
Security is tight at the Mzuzu Magistrate’s Court, with police maintaining a strong presence outside the premises. Earlier, some senior DPP officials left the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) offices in Mzuzu to wait for Mhango’s court appearance.
Mhango is currently being questioned by the ACB over allegations of abuse of office during his time as a government minister. The case has drawn significant attention due to Mhango’s prominent political position.
