Jappie Mhango, the former Vice President (North) for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has arrived at the Mzuzu Court House for a scheduled court appearance.
Mhango was arrested yesterday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Mzuzu over allegations that he acquired a government-owned house at a price significantly below market value. The transaction reportedly took place during his tenure as Minister of Transport and Public Works under the DPP administration.
As Mhango awaits his court hearing, large crowds of DPP supporters have gathered outside the courthouse in a show of solidarity.
Further details on the case are expected to emerge as court proceedings begin.
