Lee Jae-myung Elected as South Korea’s New President

Lee Jae-myung, leader for the Democratic Party in South Korea, has been elected as the country’s president following the resignation of the former president, Yoon Suk-yeol, who was forced by the public to resign after he tried to bring in a law that would let the military control the government.
Speaking after the victory, Lee said peace stated the importance of peace over conflicts, saying the country needs to prioritize strong national security while avoiding war.
About 44.4 million South Korean’s voted during the election. Lee Jae-myung now becomes South Korea’s 21st president.
