The Lilongwe District Council has officially invited the Citizens for Credible Elections (CFCE) to a crucial stakeholders meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 24.
According to a letter signed by District Commissioner Lawford Palani, the meeting aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss matters relating to CFCE’s planned protests set to take place on Thursday in Blantyre, it will be held at 2:30 PM in the Council Chamber.
The CFCE recently announced their intention to hold demonstrations demanding the resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja and Chief Elections Officer Andrew Mpesi, accusing them of lacking transparency and integrity to preside over a free and fair election.
The District Commissioner emphasized that the presence of all invited parties at the meeting is highly appreciate.
With just days to go before the planned protest, all eyes are on how discussions at the meeting may influence Thursday’s demonstration in Blantyre.
