Aspiring Member of Parliament for South Lunzu Constituency, and journalist, Deus Sandram, popularly known as Bwande, has expressed concern over the delays in facilitating a kidney transplant for music legend Sir Paul Banda, who has been battling kidney failure for years.
In a heartfelt post on his Facebook page, Sandram described the situation as deeply saddening, especially considering that a young man from Machinjiri, Blantyre, had reportedly volunteered to donate one of his kidneys to Banda.
“It’s painful that despite the public outcry and fundraising efforts, and even after a young man from Machinjiri stepped forward offering to donate his kidney, nothing has materialized up to now. Sir Paul Banda remains here in Malawi, still suffering,” Sandram wrote.
Sandram further appealed to relevant authorities and well-wishers to urgently intervene, saying without timely action, Sir Paul Banda’s condition may continue to deteriorate.
Sir Paul Banda, who is regarded as one of Malawi’s most influential music producers and artists, has been on dialysis treatment in Blantyre for the past several years due to chronic kidney failure.
