Retired Malawian musician Kabol Lombwe has stirred controversy on social media after publicly advising controversial rapper Evans Muzik to quit music, claiming the artist is making no meaningful progress.

In a bold Facebook post, Kabol reacted to Evanz Muzik’s recent announcement that he had received K395,000 in royalties from Cosoma, writing:“Bro, find another hobby. This ain’t it. They’re lying to you. You can’t work hard the whole year just to get this. There’s nothing to be proud of here boiled egg vendors are making more. Be like me, quit, and try other things.”

Kabol further justified his decision to post publicly, stating, “I’ve said it in public because you also once told me the truth publicly.”

The comment comes after Evans thanked his fans for their continued support following his royalty payout, which he announced via Facebook with gratitude. Despite the criticism, Evanz Muzik, who is also known for critiquing other artists and reviewing songs, has not yet responded to Kabol’s post.

The blunt advice from the retired artist has sparked debate online, with some applauding Kabol for being honest, while others defended Evans for staying consistent in a tough industry.

As the story continues to trend on social media, it remains to be seen whether Evans will respond or continue to stay silent amid the growing conversation around artists’ value and sustainability in Malawi’s music industry.
