Police say they have recovered all 47 vehicles that a Machinga man, Mustafa Charles, allegedly stole under the pretext of borrowing and later gave to his creditors.

According to Southern Region Police spokesperson Beatrice Mikuwa, the total value of the vehicles is estimated at K310 million.

Mikuwa said Mustafa, aged 31, obtained 17 vehicles from one company, 11 from another, and borrowed many more from individuals across different locations.

She said police are pleased to have recovered all the vehicles after the owners lodged complaints that Mustafa had borrowed them and later handed them over to his creditors.

However, Mustafa has denied the charges, which are expected to be heard in the coming days as police prepare to present their witnesses.

Mustafa Charles hails from Namunde Village in the Mulemba area of Machinga District.
