Zambian Model Mwaka And Filmmaker Kazadi Arrested Over Production and Circulation of P0rnographic Content

The Zambia Police Service has arrested and charged three individuals in connection with the production and circulation of obscene materials, contrary to Section 177 of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga, the three suspects are Model Mwaka Halwiindi, 23,Film maker David Kazadi, 34 and Ruby Muzandu, 23
Charges against the trio are as follows:
Mwaka Halwiindi has been charged with two counts of making or producing pornographic videos tending to corrupt morals, under Section 177(1)(a).
David Kazadi has been charged with two counts of producing obscene content and two counts of circulating obscene materials, under Sections 177(1)(a) and 177(1)(b) respectively.
Ruby Muzandu is facing one count of conveying or exporting obscene content, under Section 177(1)(b).
According to the police, the offences involve the creation, distribution, and digital transmission of pornographic content, which was discovered following intelligence-led investigations and digital surveillance by the Cybercrime Unit.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon.
The police have warned members of the public against engaging in activities that violate public morality and decency, emphasizing that such offences carry serious legal consequences.
“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding law and order, especially in the digital space, and will not relent in bringing offenders to justice,” reads part of the statement.
