Malawian Actor ‘Phwedo’ Distances Himself from Viral Cheating Allegations

Popular Malawian actor Tupe Mtaya, widely known by his stage name Phwedo, has broken his silence after being linked to a viral video showing a married woman, identified as Sarah, allegedly caught in a compromising situation at a lodge.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Phwedo distanced himself from the scandal, saying he had nothing to do with the incident.

“It takes maturity to admit a lie. I hope we can build better communication from now on,” he wrote. “The individual who posted the video has sincerely apologized for mentioning my name, although I personally took no offense.”

Phwedo clarified that he is focused on his own life and career and is not bothered by what’s circulating on social media. He also addressed requests from some people asking for photos of the man involved in the incident.

“There’s no need for his pictures as some of you are requesting. He and his wife are handling their issues privately, which is why they’ve deactivated their social media accounts,” he added.

The actor further noted that he is currently out on court bail and is staying clear of anything that could jeopardize his situation.

“I have great respect for my brand and what it stands for. I’ve remained quiet until now because my lawyers advised me to stay silent and maintain my innocence  and I know the truth about everything.”
