Joyce Banda & Khumbo Kachali Arrive For Presidential Bid At BICC In Lilongwe

Dr. Joyce Banda has arrived at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, where she is submitting her letters of interest to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to contest in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for 16 September this year.
She has been accompanied by Freedom Party leader Khumbo Kachali.
Banda is the first among more than two dozen aspiring candidates to formally declare her intention to run for the presidency.
Her arrival drew large crowds of supporters from the People’s Party (PP), Mafunde, and the Freedom Party (PF), who gathered outside the venue to show their backing.
Security is tight at BICC, with police officers stationed both inside the perimeter and at the entrance gate to manage the growing crowd.
