American rapper GloRilla, born Gloria Woods, is speaking out after being arrested on felony drug charges in Georgia, calling the situation a “total outrage” and claiming she is the victim of a home invasion, not a criminal.
The 25-year-old rapper was booked in Forsyth County on Tuesday for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and marijuana over one ounce both felonies under Georgia law. She was released the same day after posting $22,260 bail.
The arrest stems from a burglary at her home early Saturday morning while she was out of town performing in Indianapolis for the WNBA All-Star Weekend.
On her X (formerly Twitter) account, GloRilla wrote:
“CRAZY.. My house got home invaded Saturday while I was in Indianapolis performing… & instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis.
1, So no I wasn’t busted
2, My house got robbed
3, I wasn’t home
Long story short, my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested. So that’s tea.”
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 1:30 AM on Saturday. The intruders were fired at by an armed occupant inside the house and fled before officers arrived. No injuries were reported.
During their response, authorities claim to have detected a strong odor of illegal narcotics, prompting them to obtain a search warrant. A significant amount of marijuana was allegedly found in plain view in the master bedroom closet.
Following the search, GloRilla was charged despite not being present at the time of the break-in.
Her legal team, led by Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling of The Findling Law Firm, condemned the arrest as a misplaced priority by law enforcement.
“The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,” they said in a statement to TMZ. “She was out of town when her residence became a target for home invaders. Instead of investigating the violent intrusion and theft of high-value jewelry, law enforcement chose to target Ms. Woods for alleged cannabis possession. Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect.”
This incident marks GloRilla’s second legal encounter in Georgia within the past year. In April 2024, she was arrested in Gwinnett County on DUI charges after police claimed she admitted to drinking and struggled during a field sobriety test.
Despite the controversy, GloRilla continues to maintain her innocence and says she is cooperating fully with her legal team.
No arrests have yet been made in the home invasion.
