Wirima Hails 2025 MSCE Exams as a Success

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, has described the administration of the 2025 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations as a success.

The Minister made the remarks on Monday, July 21, during a monitoring visit to Bwaila Secondary School in Lilongwe, where she observed the final day of the exams. This year’s examinations began on July 1 and concluded today.

Speaking in an interview with MIJ Online, Wirima said the examination period proceeded smoothly, with no major incidents or irregularities reported across the country.

She commended the efforts of teachers, examination administrators, security officers, and other stakeholders for ensuring that the exams were conducted in a credible and orderly manner.

Wirima also expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness demonstrated by both students and schools, stating that the orderly administration reflects government’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality and credibility of education in the country.

According to the Ministry, a total of 202,940 candidates sat for the 2025 MSCE exams  97,489 girls and 105,451 boys marking an increase from 177,434 candidates recorded in 2024.
