The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has reinstated executive committee member Daudi Mtanthiko following the completion of a four-month suspension over misconduct.

In a statement, that Face of Malawi has seen, FAM confirmed that Mtanthiko pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct while on duty as an executive committee member, contrary to Article 55 (1) of the FAM statutes.

“On his own admission, the committee proceeded to give him a sanction of a four-month suspension from all football activities,” reads part of the statement.

On a separate charge of dishonesty, Mtanthiko was acquitted after evidence presented showed he did not lie to FAM officials. However, it was confirmed that he had visited the complainant in her room.

FAM noted that since Mtanthiko had already been on suspension for over four months, the ban would be considered served in full.

Mtanthiko was initially suspended to allow investigations into allegations that he had made inappropriate advances towards female officials during the Malawi Women’s National Football Team friendlies against South Africa and Zambia.
