Police at Kanengo in Lilongwe have arrested two men suspected of being behind a series of housebreaking and theft cases in the area.
Kanengo Police Station spokesperson, Sub Inspector Gresham Ngwira, identified the suspects as Manuel Tsoka (25) and Fred John (29).
Ngwira said investigations have also revealed that Manuel’s brother, Adam Tsoka, was previously arrested in connection with murder cases reported in Area 25.
Following an increase in housebreaking incidents, police launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the two suspects last Sunday. Ngwira added that officers cornered the pair in Area 49, and upon noticing police presence, the suspects attempted to flee. In the process, Tsoka accidentally dropped a cellphone that police later used to track and arrest John.
Further investigations led police to Kauma, where the suspects had hidden stolen items, including a Samsung 55-inch plasma TV that had been stolen from a house in Area 49. The rightful owner of the TV has already been identified.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to housebreaking and theft.
