American Actor Tyrese Gibson faces jail threat as ex-wife accuses him of owing nearly $500K in legal fees

Tyrese Gibson’s ex-wife, Samantha Gibson, is seeking jail time for the actor over his alleged refusal to pay nearly $500,000 in legal fees related to their divorce.
Court documents filed on July 25 claim that Tyrese has ignored a court order requiring him to pay $399,512 in attorney fees — a figure that has now ballooned to $492,651 with interest.
Samantha accused the Fast & Furious star of deliberately defying the court’s ruling, calling it a “blatant disregard” for the law.
She is now urging the court to hold Tyrese in criminal contempt and sentence him to 20 days in jail.
The couple, who split in 2020, finalized their divorce in 2023, with the judge ordering Tyrese to pay legal fees to two law firms.
He was expected to pay $217,731 to The Gleklen Law Firm and $181,421 to Bloom Lines Alexander.
Since the ruling, tensions have escalated, including Tyrese being briefly detained last year for failing to pay child support.
One of the law firms has also filed a lien against his Atlanta property in an effort to recover the unpaid debt.
