Scorchers and Ascent Soccer Academy midfielder Faith Chinzimu has officially signed a three-year contract with Swedish top-flight women’s football giants BK Häcken, a club that competes in the prestigious UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The 18-year-old’s move was confirmed by both Chinzimu and Ascent Soccer co-founder George Maguire, marking a significant milestone in her blossoming football career.
“I am so excited and grateful for this great opportunity,” said a beaming Chinzimu.
“Ascent Soccer gave me everything to make this next step possible. I thank everyone who has supported me on this journey. I’m ready to work hard, learn from my new teammates, and contribute to the success of my new club.”
Chinzimu becomes the second player from Ascent Soccer’s women’s program to make a direct move to a top-tier European club at such a young age. She follows in the footsteps of Rose Kadzere, who joined French giants Montpellier last year.
Maguire described Chinzimu’s signing as a proud moment for both the academy and the country.
“We are incredibly proud of Faith and her journey. Her transfer to BK Häcken is a testament to her talent, her resilience, and the power of our program,” he said.
BK Häcken, based in Gothenburg, is one of Sweden’s elite women’s football teams and regularly features in continental competitions. Chinzimu’s signing further cements Malawi’s growing reputation as a source of raw football talent on the international stage.
