Parliament has passed the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government (Amendment) Bill, effectively amending Section 74 of the Electoral Act.

The amendment allows polling staff, security personnel, and representatives of candidates and political parties to vote at the polling stations where they are deployed on election day.

Previously, the law required all voters to cast their ballots only at the centres where they were registered.

With the new provision, individuals working on polling day will now be able to vote at their place of assignment, ensuring their right to vote is not compromised by their duties.
