A man who kept his ex-girlfriend’s body hidden in his home for over two years has been sentenced to prison.

Jamie Stevens, 51, concealed the remains of 36-year-old Anouska Sites under a blanket in his flat on Upton Road, Torquay.

Police began investigating after Anouska was reported missing on April 10, 2025, with her last confirmed sighting dating back to May 21, 2022.

Stevens lied to officers, claiming he hadn’t seen her in months and offering conflicting information about when she disappeared.

Despite several visits to his flat, police received no response until they forced entry on May 27 and found Anouska’s body inside.

Stevens admitted he discovered her dead after a night together in January 2023 but chose not to contact emergency services.

He told investigators he knew he should have reported her death, admitting his explanation “didn’t sound right.”

Detective Inspector Jeanne Hellyer said Anouska had been “denied the dignity and right of a lawful burial.”

At Exeter Crown Court, Stevens was sentenced to 14 months for preventing lawful burial and eight months concurrently for perverting the course of justice.
