Jealousy husband arrested for killing his Wife in Chitipa

Police in Chitipa district have arrested a 42-year-old man,Saulos Mtambo of Adam 3 village in the area of senior chief Kameme in the district for allegelly assaulting his wife to death.
The incident occurred during night of August 15, 2025, at Adam 3 village, Kameme in Chitipa.
On this fateful day,the victim and the suspect went to Sopelera Trading Centre as husband and wife being a market day where they were drinking beer in a certain tarven.
Whilist there having fun, the victim left the drinking joint to answer the call of nature.
On her way back,outside the bar, she was spotted by her husband chatting with other men which angered her husband who chased her from the drinking joint to their home.
On their way home, the suspect assaulted and drag the victim into their house.
The following morning, he discovered that his wife was life less and tried to commit suicide in a nearby bush to escape from long arm of the law but fortunately he was rescued by well-wishers.
The matter was reported to Sopelera police unit, later to Chitipa police station.
Police officers accompanied by medical personnel from Chitipa District Hospital rushed to the scene and conducted postmortem which showed that death was due to severe head injury secondary to assault.
Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody awaiting to answer murder charge soon after paper work.
The police in the district are advising people to seek better mechanisms of resolving differences other than assaulting and killing each other.
