Man Arrested for Burning 2-Year-Old Stepchild Over Food in Mwanza

Police in Mwanza have arrested 36-year-old George Joseph for allegedly burning his two-year-old stepchild after discovering the child had eaten his portion of Nandolo (pigeon peas).
According to Mwanza Police Sub-Inspector Hope Kasakula, the suspect arrived home hungry and became furious upon realizing his stepchild had consumed his food. In a fit of anger, he burned the child’s foot as a form of punishment.
Concerned community members reported the incident to the police, leading to Joseph’s arrest. Authorities have condemned the act, emphasizing that such violence against children is unacceptable.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court soon to face charges. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical attention.
Police urge the public to resolve domestic conflicts peacefully and report abuse to authorities.
