Ekhaya FC Signs Trio Amidst Suspension and Fine for First-Choice Goalkeeper ‘Elias Missi’

In a week of contrasting fortunes, Ekhaya Football Club has moved to strengthen its squad with three new signings while simultaneously dealing with a disciplinary blow to its first-team goalkeeper.
The club announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Joshua Waka from Blue Eagles FC for a fee of MK10 million, alongside midfielders Moses Banda and Blessings Malinda from Civo United for undisclosed sums.
The signing of Waka comes at a critical time, as the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has suspended Ekhaya’s first-choice goalkeeper, Elias Missi, for three matches and fined the club MK3 million. The sanctions follow an incident during their TNM Super League match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on July 3, 2025, at Kamuzu Stadium, where Missi was seen grabbing Bullets’ striker Babatunde Adepoju by the neck after a mid-air collision.
Speaking about his move, new signing Joshua Waka expressed his delight saying “There were other big teams that were also interested in me, but Ekhaya is where my heart chose to be. My fans should expect great work from me.”
Ekhaya coach Enos Chatama welcomed the new players, stating they bring healthy competition to the squad. “These players will bring good competition to the team and I expect their work to strengthen Ekhaya,” said Chatama.
The new signings are expected to be available for selection when Ekhaya, currently fourth in the league with 26 points, faces Mzuzu City Hammers this Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium. The suspension of Elias Missi likely means Joshua Waka could make his debut sooner than anticipated.
