Man Nabbed For Stealing and Damaging Water Meters in Mzuzu

Police in Mzuzu have arrested 25-year-old Lazalo Nyirenda for stealing and damaging water meters belonging to the Northern Region Water Board.
Mzuzu deputy police spokesperson Cecilia Mfune has confirmed the arrest and said Nyirenda was arrested at the Luwinga market where he was selling the meters.
The meters were allegedly stolen from areas such as Chibavi and Luwinga where the officer also allegedly damaged pipes.
The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at K5 million.
Lazalo Nyirenda who hails from Chibavi , Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba district, is currently in police custody and he will soon appear in court to to answer charges leveled against him.
