3 Nabbed in Connection With Murd3r of Man Over Chair Fight at Drinking Spot in Mzimba

Police in Jenda have arrested three men in connection with the murder of Mike Jere, 42, of Section 9, Four Ways, Mzimba District, who died from severe head injuries.

Deputy Publicist for Jenda Police, Precious Mzunga, identified the suspects as Owen Nombo Chulu, 28, Aaron Banda, 46, and Benjamin Jere, 23. The three join two others who were earlier arrested over the same case.

Mzunga said two of the suspects were apprehended at Jenda Trading Centre, while the third was arrested at Chikhoma Trading Centre in Kasungu District.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects conspired to assault and rob Jere of K70,000 following a dispute at a drinking joint over a chair he had placed in what others deemed an inappropriate spot.

All the suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer a murder charge.
