Man Arrested For Having Sexual Intercourse With 17-Year-Old Girl In Mzuzu

Police in Mzuzu have arrested Benjamin Chinsewu 25, for having sexual intercourse with a 17 year old girl at Area 1B township in the city.

The suspect was arrested on August 21, 2025 at the said township.

It has been established that the suspect and the survivor were in a relationship. On June 14, 2025, Kathumba called the girl to his house and asked her to prove love to him, he then forced himself on her and the girl went back home.

A few days later, she started feeling pain in her private part but she took pain killers and did not tell anyone.

On July 12, 2025, she noticed a persistent bad odor from her private part and some wounds. She then told her grandmother who took her to Mzuzu Central Hospital where she was treated.

On August 4, 2025 the girl noticed she was smelling again, they went back to Mzuzu Central Hospital where they examined her and was treated for a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). After questions, she explained everything to her grandmother who reported the issue to Mzuzu Police Station but the suspect was at large.

Police detectives carried an investigation which led to his arrest.

Meanwhile, the suspect will appear before court soon after paper work to answer the charge of having sexual intercourse with a female child contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
