Chimwala shakes up Machinjiri, promises to construct Technical College at Namilango School

As days draw near for September 16, 2025 tripartite election, Independent Shadow Member of Parliament for South Lunzu Constituency Alex Achalume Chimwala invaded Namilango Primary School Ground to woe voters ahead of the polls.

Chimwala was franked by Shadow Member of Parliament for Blantyre North Constituency Klaus Chikufenji, Francis Muluzi, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Governess for South Lunzu Caroline Mlenga and other top officials like Shadow Councillor Usher, Shadow Councillor Chiusi and others.

Speaking to the huge crowd gathered at Namilango School Ground Chimwala promised to construct a Technical College and to renovate South Lunzu Health Centre once elected as lawmaker for the constituency.

“I always feel sorry when i see the status of South Lunzu Health Centre which has no mortuary. My mother died right there at the hospital and her body was just dropped in the corridor. There was no dignity at all and once am elected i will construct a private room where all dead bodies will be kept waiting for loved ones to collect it.

“I will also construct a Technical College right here at Namilango Primary School and this Technical College will be offering all kind of skills to our youths from Machinjiri,” said Chimwala while attracting ululations from the crowd.

On his part, son to former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Francis Muluzi urged the people of Machinjiri to vote for Chimwala.

“If you want to enjoy a meaningful development in Machinjiri vote for the youthful man honorable Alex Chimwala koma zinazija muzingozitayisa nthawi chabe,” Muluzi was quoted as saying.

Echoing Muluzi’s remarks Chikufenji said: “am here to support my brother Alex Chimwala and i urge you all to do so on September 16. Chimwala has been with us in all times despite him losing the polls in 2019 and lets try him now. Obwelawa akangowina azatithawa.”

Chimwala has also promised to construct a youth centre and main market in Machinjiri Township once elected as MP on September.

Apart from the promises, Chimwala has drilled several boreholes, wells, renovated bridges, roads and also established a mobile technical college where women and youths are being drilled on soap making and others.

Chimwala is also running a free driving school in the constituency.
