Two Arrested for Possession of Ivory in Chitipa

Chitipa Police Station has arrested two men for allegedly being found in possession of two pieces of raw ivory in the district.
The suspects have been identified as Sandwell Sinyangwe, 41, of Namapange village in the area of senior chief Mwenewenya, and Elias Munthali, 30, from Mwenelufita village in the area of Senior Chief Mwaulambia, both from Chitipa District.
On the material date and time, the duo were offering for sale two pieces of raw ivory at Ibanda trading center in the district.
A team of detectives from Chitipa Police Station gathered intelligence about the deal and rushed to the scene, where the duo were arrested.
Meanwhile, the duo are in police custody pending appearance before court.
Police in the district are warning people against indulging into prohibited businesses that the law will not spare anyone found involved in such activities.
