Two Young Men Arrested in Phalombe Over Alleged Cattle Theft

Police in Phalombe have taken two men into custody on suspicion of possessing three cattle believed to have been stolen from Chimwankhunda.

The suspects have been identified as Chikondi Kapanda, 21, from Mwanga Village, Traditional Authority Jenala, Phalombe District, and Promise Gowero, 21, from Minjale Village, Traditional Authority Mkanda, Mulanje District.

According to Jimmy Kapanja, spokesperson for Phalombe Police, the two were apprehended by officers from the Chimwankhunda police unit after receiving a tip-off from a member of the community policing forum at Nakonya Village.

Kapanja added that the recovered cattle are currently being held at Nakonya Village pending proper identification.

The suspects are expected to appear in court to face charges related to the alleged theft.
